Apparently Wednesday morning it's free to go to the Olbrich conservatory until noon, and see the display in the side room. Today I took Morella to see a bunch of gingerbread houses. They really aren't as impressive as I thought they would be, however almost every single one of the kids there was drooling over it and telling their little friends which part of it they would eat first. It must be a kid thing. There were trains too, and apparently that is another kid-tastic thing.

I liked the conservatory though -- it was so very warm. I felt like I was freezing my pants off when we emerged and had to go home. Now I kind of wish I had a 'warm room' like that in my house, full of exotic beautiful plants and kind old ladies selling me cookies and cider.

"Hot blooded. Check it and see. Gotta a fever of 103."

Morella's first real fever, complete with apathy came today her three day run (so far) of teething. I can't wait to get my baby back -- the one that likes to crawl, play with toys and not cry all the time in agony.

Where are all the enterprising youth today, ready and raring to go with rakes in hand? I could use one of them right now.

Single parenting -- day two. It's hard. When Morella doesn't drink more than 7 ounces in a day you start to wonder how a human being can keep doing that (currently on day 12 of 8 ounces of less a day). All the optimism I have in the morning that we can get through this is drained and in the red come her bed time.

I am now going to post here every day for the rest of this month (as per National Blog Posting Month) and of course throw in three more posts to make up for the days missed. For the record, I am well on track in my regular blog Wazika that you should have already added to your bloglines, gmail reader or other rss feeds.

That said, today's post is: Last night I was able to watch new television show episodes because Morella Bomb when to sleep at 5:00 (but later got up at 2:10AM) She's been teething like crazy. Here's a picture for some reference.

We just spent the evening raising everything off the floor in the basement. We have leaking from all sides  and there is an open pipe near the drain that just bubbling water out of it. I think that it belongs to the city...I mean I have no idea what it is. I always assumed it was a hookup spot for another toilet. The good thing is that the bubbling water makes a 5 or 6 foot trek to the main drain in the laundry room, but the bad thing is -- well it's bubbling fucking water!

The backyard is a soggy pool.  The stupid dog won't go out into it and now Tim is forced to take him for a walk to get him to go pee.  Thank goodness babies at least go pee in their diapers...see? Score one for babies versus dogs. :P

Anyone else experiencing water problems?  And to think, we get thunderstorms and more rain all week.  I think this week is going to break my own lifetime record of having experienced several thunderstorms all day for ... well four days and counting....

I hope there are still wet/dry vacs for sale tomorrow.

I wonder, has anyone ever regretted not  getting that last drink?

Also we tried out that Bender Defender service last night, where a dude in a little packable scooter will come to where you are, drive you home in your car and then scoot off after he is done -- and we have to admit it's really convenient! Thought not something we would do often, but then again having the both of us go out and drink is so rare.

huh [Jun. 5th, 2008|11:11 pm]
So we finally saw Old Country for No Men ... er...No Country for Old Men....in any case -- blah.  The first half of it was good, but then it just sort of petered out.  I think Tim said it correctly when he said it was like hearing old people tell a story.   My thought on it was that it had no music in it.

Which brings up that other big movie that was supposed to be good - There Will Be Blood.   I HATED the music in that movie.  They used classic "tense" music for stuff that wasn't tense or exciting.   I got sick of watching that movie and started sorting washclothes by colors and textures by the end because it was more stimulating.

Overall, the two big Oscar movies left me feeling like I wasted my time, except I did get some good cross stitch done while watching them.

What I DO like, however -- is Dexter. I have only seen the first disc which is four episodes and it's so much better than the hours I wasted  on Carnivale season one.  I think we are going to blow through that series up until it's latest DVD release.

Also, I have a birthday thing to go tomorrow and I am going to miss Battlestar -- to say I am broken up about this is an understatement.  It's too late to get TIVO and our VCR is shit and won't take anything beyond three minutes.  How am I going to get around this?

Last but not least, am I the only that thinks that Dean Stockwell and Tommy Lee Jones could be identical twins?

Needs [Jan. 5th, 2008|12:52 pm]
I need some McDonald Chicken Selects STAT (with ranch dressing for dipping sauce). Sadly, Tim has the car 'cos he's getting ... what's that word you cool folks use? Oh yes, he's getting "inked." I also wouldn't mind if this baby actually slept for more than twenty minutes and would stay sleeping when I put her down.

I'm TIRED!!!!!!--ok. Time to try to move so that I can recline on couch, with baby on chest and see if I can get wink or two.

Morella 26 Days Old [Dec. 19th, 2007|03:31 pm]
Morella is 26 days old today. She's very adorable -- and here is the proof. I love how her pants are all old man style and socks totally say girl while the rest of the outfit says ... uh... alternative. Yeah. :D
