We just spent the evening raising everything off the floor in the basement. We have leaking from all sides  and there is an open pipe near the drain that just bubbling water out of it. I think that it belongs to the city...I mean I have no idea what it is. I always assumed it was a hookup spot for another toilet. The good thing is that the bubbling water makes a 5 or 6 foot trek to the main drain in the laundry room, but the bad thing is -- well it's bubbling fucking water!

The backyard is a soggy pool.  The stupid dog won't go out into it and now Tim is forced to take him for a walk to get him to go pee.  Thank goodness babies at least go pee in their diapers...see? Score one for babies versus dogs. :P

Anyone else experiencing water problems?  And to think, we get thunderstorms and more rain all week.  I think this week is going to break my own lifetime record of having experienced several thunderstorms all day for ... well four days and counting....

I hope there are still wet/dry vacs for sale tomorrow.

I wonder, has anyone ever regretted not  getting that last drink?

Also we tried out that Bender Defender service last night, where a dude in a little packable scooter will come to where you are, drive you home in your car and then scoot off after he is done -- and we have to admit it's really convenient! Thought not something we would do often, but then again having the both of us go out and drink is so rare.

huh [Jun. 5th, 2008|11:11 pm]
So we finally saw Old Country for No Men ... er...No Country for Old Men....in any case -- blah.  The first half of it was good, but then it just sort of petered out.  I think Tim said it correctly when he said it was like hearing old people tell a story.   My thought on it was that it had no music in it.

Which brings up that other big movie that was supposed to be good - There Will Be Blood.   I HATED the music in that movie.  They used classic "tense" music for stuff that wasn't tense or exciting.   I got sick of watching that movie and started sorting washclothes by colors and textures by the end because it was more stimulating.

Overall, the two big Oscar movies left me feeling like I wasted my time, except I did get some good cross stitch done while watching them.

What I DO like, however -- is Dexter. I have only seen the first disc which is four episodes and it's so much better than the hours I wasted  on Carnivale season one.  I think we are going to blow through that series up until it's latest DVD release.

Also, I have a birthday thing to go tomorrow and I am going to miss Battlestar -- to say I am broken up about this is an understatement.  It's too late to get TIVO and our VCR is shit and won't take anything beyond three minutes.  How am I going to get around this?

Last but not least, am I the only that thinks that Dean Stockwell and Tommy Lee Jones could be identical twins?

Needs [Jan. 5th, 2008|12:52 pm]
I need some McDonald Chicken Selects STAT (with ranch dressing for dipping sauce). Sadly, Tim has the car 'cos he's getting ... what's that word you cool folks use? Oh yes, he's getting "inked." I also wouldn't mind if this baby actually slept for more than twenty minutes and would stay sleeping when I put her down.

I'm TIRED!!!!!!--ok. Time to try to move so that I can recline on couch, with baby on chest and see if I can get wink or two.

Morella 26 Days Old [Dec. 19th, 2007|03:31 pm]
Morella is 26 days old today. She's very adorable -- and here is the proof. I love how her pants are all old man style and socks totally say girl while the rest of the outfit says ... uh... alternative. Yeah. :D

FYI: Bacon Bit [Nov. 19th, 2007|04:22 pm]
So...Bacon Bit is stubborn -- and unless there is a miracle in the next two days (highly doubt it). I will be induced on Thanksgiving Day  --  11 days overdue and just barely scraping in under the Scorpio deadline.    Considering the start time of this (5:30 AM) we hope that the Bit's secret identity will actually be revealed on that day so I can eat something.   Oh it's also Matt's Birthday -- so you guys could always combine parties.

Obviously, if any thing happens prior to that, I'll be sure to let you know. ;)

Pumpkin theives! [Nov. 1st, 2007|09:20 am]
Last night at 8:30 I decided that I was finally hungry enough (after a day full of sweets) to get some dinner. I only went down the street to KFC to get some tenders, but on the way out I saw two teenagers coming up the block. I thought to myself "Ha! See, I told Tim there would be at least two more."

15 minutes later I pull into the drive way, and walk up the path and notice "Hey, .... where is our pumpkin??"

Turns out those two teenagers STOLE our pumpkin!! Tim was sitting in the living room, with the shades WIDE open, lights on and playing the accordion in full view -- and saw movement out the corner of his eye and thought it was me, because I had just left. By the time he realized the nefarious teens were pumpkin snatching and got out of his accordion he got the door in time to see them running up the street.

Nutz! This is our first gourd-napping on record! I only feel bad about it because it was so windy that I put the candle in a glass container to prevent it from blowing out. If they smash it in the street without taking the glass out than that's a hazard. Hrm.

Anyway. We had a record number of trick or treaters this year. I counted 34 (there might be 1-4 extra that I missed -- and they would probably have been generic skeleton/grim reaper):

Batgirl, Disco Queen, Skeleton Girl, Black/Red mask kid, Afro-kid, Hockey Mask, Ninja, Kitty. Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtle, pirate girl, loud mouthed kid, care bear 1, care bear 2, Tigger, Ghost, Starburst girl, Amish kid, demon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Burger King, Grim Reaper, Alien Mask, Michael, Canadian Goose, Bumble Bee, Darth Vader, Dracula, Cool Ghost, Skeleton Boy, Pirate Girl #2, Sport Fan 1, Sport Fan 2, anime character 1, anime character 2.

Hands down the best costume of the night was the Canadian Goose -- this kid even had the feet...I have a picture of the costume I'll post next week...or tomorrow? When I update October Photos.

Also handing out full sized candy bars to some kids is awesome because they go holler across the lawn to their parents "I got a huge Hershey bar!!"

It's interesting to note that there were absolutely NO spider men, supermen, or princesses this year! Incredible.

Babytime! [Oct. 25th, 2007|06:17 am]
No, not for me, but for [info]sabonai!  I got the call this morning at ... what... 4.30? Oy.  It's a good thing I had a few things packed and an idea of what I was going to bring.  Now I am sitting on the couch, Leta is watching Curious George and I am eating a bagel and having some coffee.

So there is going to be a new baby boy today!  I sure hope they picked a name by now, otherwise they will suffer the consequences my Nephew did when he was born without a name, and the parents had access to a world map.  :P

I'll keep you updated as I am apprised. ;)

Edited to Add: it's a boy!  All those ultrasounds weren't wrong!   Baby Boy Samsa was born at 9:15 a.m. weighing 12lbs 12 oz (huge!!) and 21 1/4 inches long.  I'll save the name and story and hopefully a picture for Hilary to post at a later time.  Hurray!  Congratulations Hilary and Jason!

Edited to add again
--- uh 12 pounds folks? No way. I was TIRED when I wrote that.  Try more like 8 pounds and 12 oz....ha ha ha...twelve pounds. That's funny.

Ahh, nothing like a sesame bagel with eggs and cheddar cheese, with cup of decaf for breakfast to pay the bills.

I actually pay bills twice a month -- the second half also includes the reckoning "This is what we have in the accounts" portion.

Who pays the bills at your place and why does it work for you?

FYI [Oct. 8th, 2007|12:26 pm]
Sometimes I find that trimming split ends from my hair -- one by one --  to be the most relaxing, meditative thing possible.  I also like to fool myself into thinking that I am maintaining length AND appearance of health by doing so.

Halo there! [Sep. 26th, 2007|09:19 am]

We went and got our Christmas present early last night. We thought it would make sense to get it now when we still have a little money and time, and best of all -- no guilt before Bacon Bit arrives.   It also makes sense because once the Bit is here, then we'll be at home alot for the first few months and it just makes sense to have something to do.

That said, we got a the lesser version of the Xbox 360 -- an extra controller and ... .Halo 3!!!

We played a little last night.  I am little disappointed by the tiny text on the screen.  Come on, how many people really have big freaking huge HD TV's? Seriously.

My god....I don't believe it. Robert Jordan is dead. I can't click on his site right now because it's overloaded, but wikipedia is backing it up.

I LOVED the Wheel in Time series up to book 6 -- then it started to get a little ridiculous and I felt like he was never gonna finish it, and now look....he went and made it so it WON'T be finished.  Seriously, he was my favorite writer for several years there....thank god George RR Martin is still kicking, AND has plans to finish his books and not make it drag on and on and on....though Dance with Dragons IS taking a bit longer than promised. :P
